Writing for Engineering 

My name is Flamur Kukaj and I go to City College Of  New York and am currently a freshman in my spring semester. I’m a future Engineer major and I am hoping I’m able to get past these courses and become something where my future is able to support me and my family and be able to stay stable. I think when writing my introduction letter it was very connecting to me and what I explained to you guys about how dedicated I’m towards my goal that’s very challenging. I talked about the experience I have already with engineering because my dad is currently a superintendent I work with him a lot with leaks from pipes and kitchens and bathrooms and usually chief engineers work like that. The chief engineer is what I’m leaning towards but if I’m interested in something that is more financially supported like maybe petroleum engineering which deals with oil and they take care of oil in the country and also does their research on gas. the chief engineer is someone who takes care of a building they are assigned to and they take care of the fan systems and the right ventilation for each floor in the building and they fix little issues with tables and bathrooms and clogged sinks and other stuff in the building.

If I had another chance of taking this course I would pay more attention to the APA guides and I would be more clear in my writing which is probably one of my weakest strengths and I’m planning to become better at it of course. That is what an engineer needs more during his journey of dealing with people like his boss or maybe customers etc. My favorite piece has to be collaborative because I realized over the time of working with my fantastic group, we had this strong bond that we would just work on our parts and finish and if anyone needed help we would try to help each other out to finish the assignment. This assignment was no easy task because we, unfortunately, picked out one of the hardest innovations that we can fix to be better. There was little to no research that we can find and it was hard to find some that were good for the innovation. My least favorite has to be the rhetorical because of how it gets challenging to find anything that correlates to the Pathos, Logos, and Ethos. Not all readings or peer reviews go into depth about pathos, logos, and ethos. It’s a very challenging task to do that’s for sure when you don’t have the right research you are doing it but if you did then maybe it would be an easy task.

Overall this course has taught me many things like the outcomes of things and how to create a technical and how to describe the objects that I was writing about. the collaborative project has made a group member stronger in cases where you have to research and write and find pictures of what the innovation is and creating pictures that can change the whole innovation as a whole. This course has had work us together with a group to come up with innovation and to prove it is not that hard to make an innovation. As you are visiting my site you will see our innovation and how we made it better than it is right now. You will also see my technical that made me go through many obstacles in explaining the object I was working on which was a Logitech g pro wireless mouse. I had to find out the certain features it has and why they are essential to us or essential to the gaming community. I also had to write a memo during this course based on what needed to be fixed and who will be in place at the time. I have also included rhetoric which was challenging due to finding the logos and pathos and ethos of the peer review I was working on and it was very intriguing to do. I had to work all night and day for the rhetorical and read the peer review thoroughly because I was trying to have a good rhetorical and make my professor proud of me. Eventually, I have learned a lot and I now know how to research like it’s nothing I’m able to describe and figure out features and I’m now able to come up with innovation and try to make it better. Professor Delamar has taught me well and has taught other students as well. This writing for engineering will prepare you for other courses that require math and engineering in general. The class is what I expected to be an honest good amount of work and not some ordinary work but hard work it was extremely challenging when it comes to collaborative projects and going down on the list. When I talked about working with my father the experience is similar to what many building engineers do which is to make sure the ventilation is good and make sure the air quality is good and make sure the heat is on during winter and make sure it’s off during the summertime. I have gone through all of this because we are required to do that it’s my dad’s job but I’m his assistant so I know basically everything he knows. When going through other engineering jobs they require more math etc which is very hard compared to what building engineers do the engineer I’m talking about is civil engineering which is my major and I’m hoping can get through all these classes that I’m required to do because in the end it always gonna be worth it and I know it will come with benefits and stable life. My writing habits are just finding a quote and explaining it but not always is that the case because I also have to focus on the writing style of it. Writing styles could be like Chicago style or what I had to use every writing assignment which was the APA 7th style and to me I like it but at the beginning, I was very bad at writing anything in APA which is why these assignments prepared me to do better in APA writing assignments.

Well, most of the time I spent just doing assignments from other courses but for this course, I mainly just looked at my last writings and saw what I was weak in and I would then try to make it a stronger habit. Yes, I did collaborate with others because I know 2 brains are much smarter and bigger than one brain which is, of course, something in this life that is important and I cannot work by myself it is usually a bad thing for me.When I work by myself I have this weird writer’s block but with others, I can write and think smarter and know what to write next without even hesitating.”Teamwork makes the dream work” is a quote that I like using most of the time, especially in engineering. I always had a conference with my instructor because I needed to know what I was doing wrong and of course, I had some problems where I think I know what I’m saying but the professor is just smarter. Staying in contact with your instructor during the course is the best thing you can do as a student because it not only helps you as a writer but it helps you build social skills which is another thing you need to be an engineer.No I did not visit the writing center I believe having 1 to 1 with the instructor is much more effective than going to the writing center with other students. I prefer the person who is grading my work helps me because I know what that person wants from me. These activities affected me as a writer a lot because I learned that It’s not hard to become a writer you just gotta be more aware to what the requirements are and what makes sense to the audience. Influencing your audience is a very important thing for a writer because they can have relations with them and it can impact them a lot.
